Experimental Investigation of Metasurface in Non-Radiative Mid-Range Wireless Power Transfer

(in English) A mid-range wireless power (WPT) system with metasurface is proposed which obtain power transfer efficiency (PTE) enhancement and transfer distance expansion. A mid-range WPT system composes of identical transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) which places metasurface in the middle of system. At the distance of 28 cm, because of coupling coefficient improvement between Tx and Rx, the metasurface increase PTE from 35% to 62% (37% improvement) at 13.56 MHz. The WPT system without metasurface achieves maximum PTE over 50% at 15 ? 25 cm distances. By introducing the proposed metasurface, the longest distance, which obtain the maximum PTE beyond 50%, is extended to 35 cm.
