Designing an Interrupt Controller for a Multi-core System

(in English) Enhancing design efficiency and overall system performance are important targets and design challenges for a multicore system.
In this paper, we introduce an automaticrotating interrupt distribution scheme to processor cores to reduce overhead in handling interrupt requests. We also introduce a tool to generate the Interrupt Controller based on a list of configurations, so that we can quickly support new SoCs with increasing number of peripherals and processor cores. Our design is applied in an eight SuperH core SoC for high performance applications. As a result of new interrupt scheme, the processing time in Linux kernel is improved by 21% with SPLASH2 benchmark.
