Design Method of Pre-equalization Filters to Alleviate Spectrum Narrowing

(in English) To satisfy the ever-increasing traffic demand in a cost-effective manner, the use of high-baud signals and dense wavelength-division multiplexing is expected. However, the increase in the signal baud results in severe spectrum narrowing because of bandwidth limitation of digital analog converters (DACs). Furthermore, spectrum narrowing is also caused by bandwidth limitation of wavelength selective switches (WSSs). So far, several pre-equalization schemes were proposed to alleviate spectrum narrowing, where deterministic channel models are utilized; however, passband characteristics of DAC and WSS have deviations caused in the production process or those caused by environment changes. In this paper, we propose a method of creating pre-equalization filters without relying on the channel model, where Bayesian optimization is utilized. Computer simulations confirm the effectiveness of our scheme.
