Heterogeneous In-band Full-duplex System for Simultaneous SUN-FSK Transmission and SUN-OFDM Reception

(in English) The current wireless smart ubiquitous network (Wi-SUN) is mainly deployed in metering and IoT systems, and uses IEEE 802.15.4g-compliant Gaussian-filtered frequency shift keying (GFSK) modulation for smart utility network (SUN)—SUN-FSK—in terms of low power consumption and bandwidth limitation. Recently, next-generation Wi-SUN based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for SUN compliant with IEEE 802.15.4g/4x (SUN-OFDM) is being considered to support high transmission rates, real-time transmission, and mobility of terminals. It is expected that the existing and next-generation Wi-SUN systems employing these different wireless communication schemes will be used at the same frequency bands in the future. The authors have proposed the concept of a heterogeneous in-band full-duplex (Het-IBFD) to accommodate SUN-FSK and SUN-OFDM terminals simultaneously. In this report, we propose a Het-IBFD that simultaneously receives SUN-OFDM signals and transmits SUN-FSK signals. In addition, we propose a new method for accurately estimating the self-interference (SI) channel necessary for suppressing the SI signal using a moving average technique and a demodulation scheme that improves reception quality by considering the effect of the line spectrum of the residual SI signal component.
