Examining the relationship between detection rate of steady state visual evoked potential and basic rhythm

(in English) The purpose of this study is to investigate the accuracy of steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) detection in terms of the relationship between the subjects’ s basic EEG rhythm frequency and the visual stimulation frequency. Although the frequency close to the alpha rhythm are often used for the visual stimuli of SSVEP, the detection accuracy is possible to be affected when their frequencies are overlapped. In this study, the detection accuracy of SSVEP was compared when the different frequency from the alpha rhythm of each subject was used as the stimulation frequency and when the same frequency was used. As the results of experiments, the detection rate of SSVEP was higher when the stimulation frequency was different from subject’s alpha rhythm.
