Fundamental Characteristic Measurements of Electroabsorption Modulator Integrated Laser Diode for Vector Modulation

(in English) We measured the fundamental characteristics of an EA modulator integrated laser diode for vector modulation of light. Directly modulated lasers can be used as phase modulators due to the chirp effect. However, this phase modulation is accompanied by a change in amplitude. In addition, the intensity modulation by the EA modulator is accompanied by a change in phase. Therefore, vector modulation of light can be achieved by controlling these effects with respect to each other. In this study, aiming for a modulation speed of 10 GHz, we measured the basic characteristics of EML and the phase change of light when a modulation signal is applied to the LD.
