Dependence of radiated electromagnetic disturbance on exposure range of single-wire harness

(in English) With the development of advanced driver-assistance systems, the immunity evaluation of in-vehicle equipment is becoming increasingly important.
One of the standards for evaluating the radiated immunity of equipment is ISO 11452-2.

However, the amount of disturbance that can be applied to equipment varies depending on the height and length of the harness. Therefore the immunity characteristics of the equipment may not be fairly determined.
When a disturbance is applied to multiple points on the harness, phase differences occur because the distance from each point to the end of the harness, which is the observation point, is different.
In this report, using ABCD matrix and transmission line theory, the authors calculated the output voltage that occurs when an electromagnetic wave is irradiated to a harness.

The results show that even if the termination is matched, the voltage fluctuates significantly like a harness length resonance.
The verification of long harnesses also suggested that the phase difference cancellation becomes more complicated when the harness is wired in a trussed configuration, since the number of points exposed to the disturbance increases.
The results were also verified by experiment. In addition to resonance due to harness length, sharp fluctuations were observed at several frequencies.
