In this study, debris reentry trajectory prediction was performed using NORAD No. 47782. LSTM was used for the prediction. When predictions were made using the LSTM model without any processing of the training data, the predictions were far off and could not be predicted. By linearizing the training data, the predictions became quantifiable. The linearization process resulted in an overwhelming improvement in the predictions: JAXA's prediction error was 15 days, whereas this study's prediction error was approximately 21-22 days. Although the TLE data is small and the predictions were made only a few days in advance, if the same method is adapted to long-term orbital data, it should be possible to make predictions with the same level of error even 180 days in advance of JAXA's predictions. |
