1-D Circular Near Field to Far Field Radar Cross Section Transformation by Using a Weight Function Based on Cylindrical Wave Expansion

(in English) This paper proposes a new near field to far field transformation method for radar cross section measure ments with a one-dimensional circular measurement system. The new method is based on the Born approximation and has advantages of: (1) single frequency measurement, (2) computational efficiency, (3) applicable in the near region closer than the Fresnel region, and (4) ease of implementation in programming code. Algorithm of the method has three simple steps: (1) inverse Fourier transformation (FT) is implemented with measurements of near field samples, (2) the samples with inverse FT is multiplied by a weight function, and (3) far field is estimated by implementing the FT of the weighted samples. Results of the proposed method are compared with existing methods by numerical simulation.
