Proposal of Timing Adjustment Method to Realize High-precision Synchronization in Optical Time Division Multiplexing Transmission

(in English) To realize E2E optical transmission in transmission networks, it is necessary to increase in number of optical paths. A solution is offered by the optical time division multiplexing (OTDM), a scheme that can increase the optical paths by dividing a wavelength on the time domain. OTDM transmission, however, requires node-to-node synchronization method in order not to collide among TDM signals. In this paper, we propose a novel timing adjustment method to realize synchronization in OTDM-NW. We also showed that this method could achieve extremely high-precision synchronization.
