[Invited Talk] Demonstration of submarine cable system using multicore fiber and multicore amplifier

(in English) 15.4 km-length multicore submarine cable prototype using un-coupled 4-core multicore fiber with 125 μm standard cladding diameter was demonstrated. Transmission experiments using the prototype has successfully clarified that cabling process does not affects transmission performance of the 4-core multicore fiber transmission line. Moreover, 5,350km long haul real-time loop transmission experiment with the prototype confirmed that the integration of the multicore EDFA to the transmission multicore fiber without fan-in fan-out device could contribute Q-value improvement.
