[Invited Talk] Activites on utilizing Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface for wireless channel control

(in English) In this talk, we will introduce our activities for wireless channel control using recinfgurable intelligent surface(RIS). For 6G and future wireless access networks, it is expected to utilize frequency bands above millimeter-wave bands in order to pursue extremely high data date and high capacity wireless communication with imporoved reliability. The wider
bandwidth of higher frequency bands enables the extremely high performance. However, whether the expected performance can be achieved depends on the actual environment due to the characteristics of radio waves. In order to realize the expected performance, it is ideal to make environments with short distance, line-of-sight and multiple communication paths. To solve the above issues and satisfy the peroformance, we have proposed wireless channel control using relay methods. In the proposed system, various relay methods, such as RIS and smart repeater, are used properly according to the situation and controlled in an integrated manner. Towards a world where the wireless environment is controlled wisely, we have been conducting studies and experimental verifications focusing on RIS, which is a new device. These activities are outlined in this talk.
