Characteristic Analysis of Plasmon Mode using Decomposition of Electromagnetic Fields into Longitudinal and Transverse Components

(in English) In this report, the separation of the longitudinal and transverse components of the electromagnetic field is investigated. The electromagnetic field distribution in real space obtained from the Finite-Difference Frequency-Domain (FDFD) method is transformed into the wavenumber domain using the Fourier transform. Longitudinal and transverse components are determined by parallel and perpendicular vectors to a wavenumber vector, respectively. To obtain the electromagnetic fields for each component, they are transformed into the real space. The method is applied to surface plasmon analysis to verify the characteristics of the longitudinal and transverse components of the electromagnetic field in the vicinity of nano metals.
