(in English) The prevention of dementia in the elderly is an important issue worldwide. We have developed Cymis (Cyber Musical Instrument with Score), an electronic welfare instrument. We aim to use this instrument for dementia prevention. Ensembles of two or more performers require more work than solo performances because of the need to synchronize timing with the other performers. Furthermore, it is thought that varying the speed of the ensemble can continuously load the brain. The purpose of this study was to measure cerebral blood flow using Near InfraRed Spectroscopy (NIRS) as a functional brain activity during instrument ensembles. In this experiment, we measured cerebral blood flow during a music ensemble performance by three subjects. It was shown that the change in cerebral blood flow in experienced performers with Cymis was greater during ensemble than during solo performance.
