The spatial mode dispersion of two types of coupled multicore fibers, one with a homogeneous core and the other with a heterogeneous one, were measured. Fibers of 100 m, 200 m, 500 m, and 1000 m length were prepared, and measurements were in the 20 nm bandwidth. Spatial-mode dispersion (SMD) was measured by root mean square from the acquired complex impulse responses. The complex impulse responses were then Fourier transformed and divided into certain bandwidths, and the variation of SMD per bandwidth was evaluated by inverse Fourier transform. |
