[Invited Lecture] Application of Local 5G Systems for Advancement of Railway Track Inspection and Operation Assistance in an Urban Train Station

(in English) In this presentation, the result of local 5G technology demonstration carried out in the proposal "Advancement of Railway Track Inspection and Operation Assistance in Train Stations Using Local 5G," which was adopted in "Technology Development Demonstration Project for the Realization of Problem-Solving Local 5G," a public offering by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in fiscal 2021, is presented. The Oimachi Line and Toyoko Line platforms of the Jiyugaoka Station of Tokyu Corporation were used as a demonstration site for concrete use cases of local 5G systems that contribute to solving business problems in railway companies. This paper reports the measurement and evaluation of the radio propagation characteristics and radio performance of local 5G in a semi-outdoor railway station of long and narrow platforms in urban areas, and the elaboration of the adjustment parameters R and S in the propagation loss calculation formula specified in the examination standards related to the Radio Act. Furthermore, the result of validation of measures against the problem of radio wave leakage and the problem of uplink interference between adjacent cells, which have become apparent in the process of technical demonstration, is presented.
