We have developed a ground penetrating radar (GPR) system that has orthogonal pairs of transmit and receive antennas and can measure two orthogonal polarizations at the same point. The full polarimetric scattering matrix can be measured with the radar system fixed at one position, and the measured polarization scattering matrix can be reproduced by polarization basis transformation. It is demonstrated that it is possible to measure an undetectable object regardless of the measurement polarization direction. We also showed that the MIMO type radar can perform subsurface 3D imaging. |
