With the current situation of the spread of the coronavirus infection (COVID-19) around the world and the acceleration of the remoteness of all social activities and tasks, realistic telecommunication technologies are attracting a great deal of attention. A typical application technology is Holoportation [1], which projects photographed objects as 3D holograms in real time in the real space, but there are three major challenges for its practical application: ensuring communication quality, large-scale data processing, and defining the sense of presence. Previously, we have proposed a basic concept of a telecommunication system using local 5G [2], and showed that a large-scale 3D data transmission system in UL/DL bidirectional can be realized [3]. However, in the proposed system, only 1-3 depth cameras are used, and it is difficult to achieve sufficient realism. Therefore, in this study, we realize a complete 360-degree point cloud transfer using seven depth cameras, and investigate the improvement of positioning accuracy and the reduction of processing time when constructing the point cloud. As a result, we can construct a complete 360-degree point cloud in about 10 seconds, with a fitness of about 0.4-0.6 and an RMSE value of about 0.006. This makes it possible to define a sufficient sense of realism, together with the fact that the FPS during data communication is about 24. On the network side, the throughput during communication is about 45 Mbps, and the local 5G UL guarantees 147 Mbps, indicating that the communication quality necessary for data transmission can be secured stably and securely. |
