LLC resonant converters can achieve high power density and high power efficiency, and are widely used in many applications. In high-current applications, the copper loss of the transformer and the loss of the rectifier circuit become large problems. By adopting a current doubler rectifier circuit, the secondary current of the transformer can be halved and the copper loss can be reduced. However, the leakage inductance of the coupled inductor, which is a component of the current doubler rectifier circuit, affects the resonant tank. This paper proposes an LLC resonant converter that uses the leakage inductance of the coupled inductor for the resonance of the primary side, which is an unconventional resonance method. In addition, a 200 kHz / 600 W prototype circuit was verified to demonstrate high power efficiency of 1.65% at 10A load current compared to the conventional center tap rectification method. |
