[Invited Talk (Young Researcher)] A study on microwave application technology in the iron and steel industry

(in English) Recently, the steelmaking facilities in Japan have been in operation for more than 40 years, therefore a way of detecting the signs of deterioration by monitoring the conditions of the production equipment has been needed. Measuring vibrations of production equipment by using millimeter-wave radar that can be used at night and in the rain is one of the useful methods. However, when measuring equipment outdoors, sometimes the radar itself is subject to disturbances such as vibration depending on the installation conditions of the radar, hence it is necessary to remove these disturbances and extract only the vibration of the target for measurement. In this paper, we propose a method for obtaining the amplitude and frequency of a target by taking the cross-spectrum of the signals obtained by two radars mounted on different positions. Proposed method was applied to CW Doppler radar and FMCW radar. The numerical simulation and the experiment were carried out to verify the principle of the proposed method.
