Fundamental Evaluation of Routing-based V2X Relay Transmissions

(in English) Celluler vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) is a promising technology to realize autonomous driving and mobility as a service (MaaS). In C-V2X communications, a device-to-device direct communication without mobile core network called sidelink is employed in vehicle-to-vehicle or vehicle-to-infrastructure communication scenarios and sidelink relay transmission is being developed to extend the network coverage and imrpove system performance. In this paper, the performance of relay transmission using V2X sidelink is evaluated by over-the-air experimental trials in the chamber room. Packet forwarding and routing control are implemented by software in V2X modules. Results of static sequential relay transmissions with 2 relay nodes show that 99th percentile of end-to-end delay is less than 100 milliseconds.
