Feasibility Study Results of Wideband Polarization Networks for Multi Band Coaxial Horn Antenna

(in English) A polarization networks for a coaxial multi-frequency band horn antenna can individually configure the circuit of each frequency band without filters, so it is thought that it will be advantageous to reduce the size, compared to the circuit where the polarization of multiple frequency bands is transmitted and separated in one waveguide. However, since the TEM mode propagates in the low frequency band circuit, it is needed to separate the TEM mode. Here, we report on a low-frequency band right / left-handed circularly polarization networks for a coaxial horn antenna. As the circuit components, we selected one turnstile OMT, two H-plane cross couplers, and two magic-Ts. The features are that better polarization separation characteristics can be obtained compared to the conventional configuration using a 90-degree phase shift circuit, and the size can be reduced because the adjacent terminals of the turnstile OMT are combined. For the turnstile OMT, the amount of corner cut of the bend to be loaded was optimized to widen the bandwidth. The design results in the S band demonstrated a return loss of 20 dB and a loss of 0.15 dB (assuming aluminum).
