Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper summarizes the data on change in traffic volume and traffic accidents due to the COVID-19 pandemic and compares them with simulation results using the microscopic traffic flow simulator built by us that can evaluate traffic accidents. Simulation results show that the ratio of serious accidents against the total number of accidents peaks when the traffic volume decreases slightly from the saturated traffic flow, and that the simulation results generally match the data observed in the pandemic. These results suggest that the simulator used in this paper can explain the traffic phenomena observed during the pandemic period.
