Nowadays, as the number of IoT devices increases, the danger of device switching and spoofing increases, and the importance of proper device identification is increasing. Our research group proposes a method for device identification using the correlation between the time drift inherent in computer devices and the CPU core temperature. It is known that the time drift can be expressed as a cubic function of the CPU core temperature. However, because of the variability in the measurements, it is difficult to identify by comparing the function values with the measurements. Therefore, we believe that a identification method using statistics such as mean and variance is useful, but it is expected to require multiple measurements and take a long time for identification. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between the number of measurements of time drift and the measurement accuracy of the average value. As a result, it was confirmed that the average value could be obtained with good accuracy after about 50 minutes of measurement at 10-second intervals. Therefore, we believe that a method like health monitoring is appropriate for identification using time drift. |
