Dependence of in-core erbium doping and refractive index distribution in 3-signal LP mode ring core Er-doped fiber

(in English) We are developing a few-mode fiber amplifier to realize a long-haul mode-division-multiplexing transmission. It was confirmed, both theoretically and experimentally, that 2-LP (LP01, LP11) mode signal amplification with a few-mode erbium-doped fiber which has a low differential modal gain (DMG) and high efficiency characteristic was achieved. In this paper, we report the possibility of an RC-EDF as a 3-LP (LP01, LP11, LP21) mode amplification medium by WDM signal amplification characteristics simulation for applying it to a few-mode fiber amplifier whose Er-doping profile and refractive-index distribution are varied.
