We have proposed the temperature sensing system that uses inexpensive optical transceivers for Ethernet and a long-period fiber grating. In addition to use the Ethernet optical transceivers as a light source and an optical spectrum analyzer in the system, a low-cost system can be constructed by using an inexpensive single-board computer for temperature evaluation. In this study, we used a Raspberry Pi as the single-board computer. We also propose a method for sensing a wide range of temperatures by using multiple Ethernet optical transceivers with different output wavelengths. We constructed the proposed system on an experimental IP network in our laboratory, and demonstrated that the proposed system could sense a wide range of temperature. |
