Consideration of primary radiator for efficiency of reflectarray antenna
Haruna Nagahara, Hiroyuki Arai (Yokohama National Univ.) AP2021-136
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to improve the efficiency of the reflector array, the types of primary radiators and their arrangement were investigated using the electromagnetic field analysis software CST. A horn antenna was adopted for its high directivity. It has 10 dBi higher gain and higher directivity than dipole and patch antennas. In addition to the primary radiator investigation, the spacing of the elements on the reflector, the reflection phase, and the FD ratio, which is a parameter of the position of the primary radiator and the reflector, were investigated to improve the efficiency. In the end, a gain of 24.3 dBi and an efficiency of 65.2% were obtained for the entire antenna.
