[Short Paper] Multi-channel analog transfer of vibrotactile waveforms on 2-D transmission line for wearable tactile suits

(in English) Analog waveform transfer on a double-sided conductive textile is proposed to implement a wearable tactile suit. Many vibrotactile actuators distributed all over the body surface are parallel-connected to the double-sided conductive textile. Previously proposed serial transmission of the digital bitstream on the conductive textile is unsuitable to drive these actuators individually with arbitrary waveforms in real-time. In the presented system, analog waveforms to drive actuators are transferred with frequency modulation (FM), instead of the serial transmission of digital signals. A commercially available integrated circuit (IC) for FM broadcast receiver is used for demodulation, and the interference of adjacent carriers spaced at 200 kHz intervals is suppressed by about 50 dB. In the frequency range from 76 MHz to 108 MHz, more than 100 carriers can be allocated. Therefore, vibrotactile waveforms to drive more than 100 actuators are simultaneously transferred without interference.
