Remote phase control of microwave signals generated by optical beat using 1.3μm-band SOA with 1.55μm-band signal light

(in English) Optical fiber wireless technology has been attracting attention to effectively transmit high-frequency wireless signals.Although microwave phase-control is required for directional control of radiated microwaves using array antennas, phase control from a remotely located base station may cause phase drift. To solve this problem, we have studied remote phase control using cross phase modulation in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) installed near the antenna. We had studied the phase control characteristics using a 1.55μm-band SOA with the same-band signal light. However, the serious amplitude attenuation due to cross gain modulation became an issue. In this paper, we propose a remote phase control of the microwave signal using a 1.3μm-band SOA with the 1.55μm-band signal light to suppress the amplitude attenuation in the phase control operation.
