Contour Detection Method Using CycleGAN with CG Images as Ground Truth

(in English) In object detection from images, contour detection methods with pixel by pixel manner by using GAN have been proposed. However, in these methods, since it is necessary to prepare ground truth images that have a one-to-one correspondence with the target images to train the model, there are often obstacles for practical applications. On the other hand, it has been shown that CycleGAN enables mutual translation of images between two different domains without preparing the one-to-one correspondent training images. In this study, I show that CG can be used to efficiently generate the ground truth images, and by using them for training, image translation using CycleGan's model can be used to detect contours. Furthermore, comparative evaluations are performed with the case where the ground truth images with the one-to-one correspondence with the target images are used. As a result, the deterioration of accuracy was suppressed to 6.9%.
