In order to enhance the transmission capacity, it is effective to use higher frequency band radio waves with abundant frequency resources. However, since the propagation loss increases as the frequency becomes higher, it is necessary to deploy radio equipment densely. Therefore, by applying A-RoF (Analog Radio-over-Fiber) and consolidating the signal processing functions of the radio base station to the central station CS (Central Station), RRU (Remote Radio Unit) can be
simplified and be reduced its power consumption. We have been proposing such a system configuration and have reported on the indispensable remote beamforming method. In this presentation, we will outline the proposed remote beamforming methods, and then give a preliminary report on the results of the ongoing study using prototype. It is confirmed that the EVM of the downlink signals transmitted from the RRU assuming indoor condition is about 3.2%, which is better than that shown in 3GPP specification. |
