Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Internet of Things (IoT) has gained growing attention as a key technology for efficiently collecting various information such as medical, daily life, transportation, and industry.
To realize more efficient and reliable data collection from IoT devices that will be deployed widely and massively in the future, data harvesting by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which visit IoT devises to collect sensing data, has been recently proposed.
The performance analysis of such UAV-based data harvesting networks has also been considered in a recent study. However, it assumed a single-user scenario wherein uniformly distributed
UAVs are operated by a single user, and thus it does not take into account the situation wherein multiple users operate each UAV to collect IoT data according to their individual purposes.
In this study, we consider a UAV-based data harvesting network in a multi-user environment and theoretically evaluate its performance via a stochastic geometry approach.
More specifically, we assume a UAV network wherein each UAV flies over random locations and individually collects data from IoT devices distributed on the ground.
We focus on the performance of a UAV and an IoT device separately, and derive theoretical expressions of their performance metrics.
We also present several numerical examples based on the analytical results and evaluate the impacts of various system parameters on the performance.
