Experimental Study on Vulnerability of a Frequency Hopping Based Anti-Electricity Theft Method for Wireless Power Transfer

(in English) To prevent electricity theft from wireless power transfer systems using magnetic resonant coupling, frequency-hopping-based anti-electricity theft methods that periodically change the transmission frequency have been proposed.
However, existing research does not assume that a receiver trying to steal power can measure the transmission frequency and follow its resonant frequency to the transmission frequency.
In this paper, we implemented a power theft device that controls the resonant frequency of the receiver circuit based on the transmission frequency measured by a frequency counter. Then, we measure the power that the power theft device can steal from the wireless power transfer system. As a result of simulation and experimental evaluation, we confirmed that the power theft device could receive the same amount of power as the authorized receiver.
