A study on the low latency channel for an advanced ISDB-T

(in English) We are currently developing an advanced Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (an advanced ISDB-T) system toward the next generation of digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB). Like as the auxiliary channel (AC) of ISDB-T, subcarreirs for low-latency channel (LLch) are allocated randomly in each segment of the advanced ISDB-T. With adopting differenctial binary shift keying (DBPSK) to subrcarrier modulation scheme, LLch transmission is expected to be used for transmitting data that high robustness is needed. Furthermore, time interleaving is not applied to LLch. Also, LLch is able to be demodulated without the channel estiamtion by the pilot signal because of the DBPSK. With these schemes, LLch data is transmitted with low latency. In this paper, a study of earthquake early warning (EEW) transmission for the next generation of DTTB with using LLch is introduced. The low-density parity-check (LDPC) code is newly designed considering the LLch and EEW specification. The transmission performance of designed LDPC code is evaluated by the computer simulation. Furthermore, the possibility of LLch transmission is verified by the laboratory experiment with the prototype equipment.
