| (in English) | Since the first civilian spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) onboard SEASAT satellite in 1978, SAR has been used in various fields of land and ocean for its all-weather and day-and-night imaging capabilities: New technologies of interferometry and polarimetry have also been developed, and large numbers of studies have been reported and used in practice. In this article, a brief review is presented on the applications of SAR to the selected topics of oceanic phenomena, including ocean waves, internal waves, bottom topography, oil slicks, ship detection and classification, and others. The discussion is focused mainly on the methodology of SAR data analyses with some examples. | |
