A Study on Compact Measurement Method of Bistatic Radar Cross Section Using Secondary Scattering Wave

(in English) Measurements of bistatic radar cross section requires a broad measurement space to obtain desired angles, but it is sometimes hard to prepare. We propose a compact measurement method using secondary scattering wave produced by a reflecting plate. The method is composed of the reflecting plate placed at offset position from the line between transmit and receive antennas and an object under test (OUT). Bistatic RCS patterns can be obtained by extracting the component of the secondary scattering wave from the OUT via the reflecting plate. We construct a measurement system and perform electromagnetic simulations and measurements for canonical-shape scatterers. The results by the proposed method and by the conventional method are in good agreement. Therefore, effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed.
