[Poster Presentation] A Study on the Differences in Interaction Locality within Communities between Layers in MultiLayer Social Networks
Daiki Suzuki, Sho Tsugawa (Univ. of Tsukuba)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In social networks, nodes in the same community communicate with each other more frequently than with nodes in different communities, which is know as interaction locality.
The strength of the interaction locality is expected to be different for each type of links in the social network. However, how the strength of interaction locality differs has not been clarified before.
In this study, we analyze the strength of interaction locality in each layer in a multilayer social network, where different layers represent different communication channels among individuals.
For the analysis, we use a two-layer network consisting of a layer representing the retweet relationships and a layer representing the reply relationships among users in Twitter.
The results of the analysis show that in the two-layer network that represents the relationship between users with a political conflict structure, the interaction locality in the community is very high in the layer that represents the retweet relationship, while it is low in the layer that represents the reply relationship.
Furthermore, we show that by using the community information extracted from the layer representing the retweet relationship, we can distinguish between replies made across the user's actual community and replies made within the actual community with high accuracy.
This result is expected to be useful for community detection using multilayer networks.
