The 5th generation mobile communication system has started its service, and the research and development for beyond 5G (B5G) and 6generation (6G) have started in order to further increase the transmission speed. In this context, the use of a millimeter-wave band is being considered for the purpose of securing the frequency band for 5G and later systems, but the increase of propagation loss is a major issue. As a solution to this problem, the transmission of relay stations is indispensable for the realization of communications using the millimeter-wave band. As a relay station, a UAV such as a drone is assumed to be used. By using a drone as a relay station, it is possible to avoid obstacles such as buildings and to communicate in a Line-of-Sight (LoS) environment, thus reducing propagation loss. In this study, we evaluate the channel capacity of the uplink in the communication system using a drone as a relay station and clarify that the drone relay station is effective for the communication system using the millimeter wave band. |
