[Poster Presentation] AoI Evaluation of Energy Harvesting Sensor Networks

(in English) In recent years, there has been growing interest in environmental issues, and energy harvesting technology, which converts light energy into electrical energy, has been attracting attention. In this presentation, we consider an energy-harvesting sensor network consisting of multiple sensors that generate their own electricity using energy harvesting technology. In this network, each sensor is equipped with a battery, which can be recharged as time passes. When the battery is sufficiently charged, packets in the buffer can be transmitted using the Slotted ALOHA method by consuming a certain amount of energy. Moreover, for each packet, the maximum number of packet collisions is set. When the maximum number is reached, the packet is discarded. In this presentation, we evaluate the performance of the energy-harvesting sensor network using a discrete Markov chain. First, we calculate the packet transmission probability of each sensor, taking into account the effect of energy depletion. Furthermore, using this packet transmission probability, we calculate the time average of the Age of Information (AoI), which
is an index to quantitatively evaluate the freshness of information, and clarify the AoI characteristics of the energy-harvesting
sensor network.
