Recent empirical studies in cognitive science have shown that body consciousness is closely related to self-consciousness. However, little research has addressed the question of how language, which shapes consciousness, affects self-consciousness and body consciousness. As a first step in clarifying the relationships between language, body consciousness, and self-consciousness, we plan to conduct a virtual reality experiment with native speakers of Japanese, English, and Spanish and, following the experiment, conduct post interviews in which the subjects will be asked to describe their state of consciousness during the virtual reality experiment. In this presentation, we introduce the design of the post interview that we are currently considering and ask for advice from the floor. |
