Folded rhombic-antenna has been proposed as a broadband antenna for use in electromagnetic interference (EMI) measurements and radio frequency (RF) immunity testing. The folded rhombic antenna is developed by Okamura et al [1] in the 1950s as a broadband antenna that can be used up to about 700 MHz. In our previous research, the complex antenna factor and absolute gain were measured by the 3-antenna method for an antenna with a half size of the original antenna. As a result, it was confirmed that the bandwidth in upper limit is 8.5 GHz, but the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the antenna input terminal was not sufficiently small due to insufficient machining accuracy and insufficient strength at the feeding point. There was also a problem with the flatness of the gain [2]. Therefore, a folded long-hexagon antenna was developed to improve these problems. The developed antenna has wider bandwidth up to 20 GHz and smaller VSWR than the previous antenna [3]. In this report, for the purpose of improving the gain in the low frequency range, the antenna shape and antenna dimensions are changed from the report [3], and prototypes are fabricated. The results of measuring the characteristics will be shown. |
