[Poster Presentation] Analysis of propagation loss through a tree for millimeter wave band using ray tracing method

(in English) In order to cope with the recent rapid increase in wireless communication traffic, the 5th generation mobile communication system (5G) service started in 2020 in Japan. The 5G system in Japan uses the 3.7 and 4.5 GHz Sub-6 bands and the 28 GHz millimeter wave band. While millimeter wave has a wide bandwidth and can ensure a high transmission rate, it is easily affected by shielding, and trees in the propagation path can also cause a large drop in power. Therefore, when using millimeter wave for 5G, if the received power is estimated using the existing propagation model, it is expected to deviate greatly from the actual value. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to clarify the loss caused by trees. In this paper, as a basic study in an environment with trees in the propagation path, we show the received power and transmission rate in an environment with trees modeled as rectangles using computer simulations based on ray-tracing calculations, and compare them with existing tree loss models.
