Examination about the usefulness of 5G NR based C-V2X congestion control method for information sharing among vehicles

(in English) Currently, in Japan, the 700MHz band safe driving support system (ITS Connect) is used as a communication method among vehicles for the purpose of safe driving support. On the other hand, 5G compliant with 3GPP Release 16, i.e. a new Radio based Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (NR C-V2X) method, is proposed to expand applications such as automatic driving support. Compared to the conventional 3GPP Release 14 compliant Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X), functions for error detection, congestion control and HARQ (Hybrid Automatic Repeat request: packet retransmission control) are newly implemented. We have analyzed the basic performance of wireless communication by simulation, so far. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the congestion control function of 5G NR-V2X (3GPP Release 16 compliant), and consider the usefulness of this method from the viewpoint of V2X applications. By simulation analysis, the improvement of SINR in the communication area owing to the congestion control function has been confirmed, and the improvement of the reception success rate in a specific application has been confirmed.
