Design of Multi-carrier Pilot Signals for Operation Point Estimation in Digital Pre-Distortion based Linearizer

(in English) Mobile terminal is required to improve the power utilization efficiency of HPA (High Power Amplifier) because of the increase of uplink transmission rate and utilization of millimeter-wave bands. Small OBO (Output Back Off) operation improves HPA power utilization efficiency however it increases ACLP (Adjacent Channel Leakage Power) due to HPA nonlinearity, resulting in degradation of spectrum efficiency. The authors have proposed a simplified DPD (Digital Pre-distortion) type linearizer for mobile terminal application, which does not require an auxiliary receiver and estimates its operation point by using the multi-carrier pilot signal, however more investigation is required in multi-carrier pilot signal design. This report describes the design of the multi-carrier pilot signal using Babcock frequency assignment according to the signal bandwidth. It also shows evaluation results of the operation point estimation performance of the multi-frequency pilot signal and its ACLP reduction performance.
