For future 5G and Beyond 5G (B5G) networks employed in mmWave spectrum that use beamforming with massive MIMO arrays, it is expected that higher spectrum utilization efficiency can be achieved with knowledge of the carrier frequency and angle-of-arrival (AOA) of the signals emitted from multiple base stations. However, spectrum sensing over a wideband spectrum may incur high hardware costs or longer sensing times. In this paper, an algorithm to perform angular-frequency wideband spectrum sensing utilizing sub-Nyquist analog-to-digital converters (ADC) is proposed. The conventional multi-coset sampling (MCS) algorithm is extended to support array antennas, which enables estimation of the angle-of-arrival in addition to the recovery of the wideband spectrum. The proposed multi-antenna MCS algorithm is expressed as a typical compressive sensing problem, and is solved based on orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP). Monte Carlo simulation results confirmed that the proposed algorithm is able to sense the two-dimensional spectrum accurately compared to conventional techniques under the same conditions. |
