Trajectory Segment Integration Method for GEO Space Debris Detection
Takayuki Inaba, Takumi Taniguchi (UEC) SANE2021-13
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, a Trajectory Segment Integration Method for detecting space debris around GEO by optical observation is proposed. In the proposed method, a series of observation images taken with a long second exposure in sidereal tracking are used. Signal processing mainly consists of “misalignment estimation between images” and “image integration and line segment compression”, and provides ideal S/N improvement performance with low computational complexity. Experiment results using a small telescope are also presented to show that the proposed method leads to the detection of small space debris named TITAN 3C TRANSTAGE DEB (Norad 25000, RCS=0.7m^2) around the GEO.
