In order to assist ankle joint movements of paraplegics during walking by using functional electrical stimulation (FES), a fuzzy FES controller has been studied in our group. However, it is difficult for users to adjust parameter values of the controller by trial and error based on muscle responses to electrical stimulation. Therefore, in this paper, a simple electrical stimulation response model was developed from the ramp response and the step response, and a method of adjustment of parameter values based on model simulation was examined. As a result of the electrical stimulation control test, it was suggested that it would be effective for the parameter adjustment. However, it was also shown that the consideration of the time variation of the muscle response and the hysteresis characteristic was needed to be included into the model. |
