Performance Improvement Method Using Multiple Photodetectors for an Optical Wireless CDMA System

(in English) In this paper, we consider an indoor optical wireless communication system for data collection, utilizing the asynchronous code division multiple access (CDMA) method. In such system, the communication performance may significantly deteriorate due to the near-far problem occurring with the variation of propagation path length between each transmitter and receiver. In order to overcome this issue, we propose to improve the symbol error rate by exploiting the spatial diversity technique at the receiver side. The proposed method is evaluated by simulation. We demonstrate that the performance can be improved thanks to the use of multiple receiving nodes. We also show that the positional relationship between the transmitters and receivers have a significant impact on the communication quality.
