Effect of thermal fluctuations on microwave assisted switching in Co/Pt nanodot array

(in English) Microwave assisted magnetization switching (MAS) has been gathered wide interests as one of the prominent technologies for ultra-high density magnetic recording. In MAS, magnetization switching field is reduced by exciting magnetization precession with microwave field with GHz frequency. In this work, we experimentally investigated MAS behavior of Co/Pt multilayers nanodots with diameter of 40-200 nm focusing on the influence of thermal fluctuation. As the dot diameter is reduced to 70 nm, the assistance effect becomes drastically smaller by decreasing the effective time of microwave field application, while coercivity is rather insensitive to the effective time particularly for high microwave frequency. These results suggest that the thermal fluctuation might become significant by reducing the dot diameter, although some parts of the behaviors are possibly due to the damage during nanofabrication process.
