Three types of communications are defined for 5G mobile communication system. One is enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), which is a direct enhancement from 4G system. The others are Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communications (URLLC) and massive Machine Type Communications (m-MTC), which are new communication domains to be applied to industrial domains. In this lecture, we first introduce truck platooning, which is following-vehicles automated driving, then discuss use cases, requirements for the communication used in truck platooning, and finally introduce field trials of the truck platooning on a real expressway, Shin-Tome Expressway. |
